The German Historical Institute (GHI) is seeking applications for a Binational Visiting Fellow Tandem. The Fellowship program contributes to the creation of the new research network “Knowledge in Transit - Migrant’s Knowledge in Comparative Perspective” at the GHI’s branch office GHI WEST at UC Berkeley.

3-year visiting position in Russian at Swarthmore College

Swarthmore College invites applications to fill a three-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian, with possibility of renewal for another three years, beginning Fall 2017. Teaching load is 2/3. Specialization in any area of Russian literature and culture; candidates with expertise in 19th-century prose, theater studies, visual culture, interdisciplinary studies, and/or a West Slavic or Central Asian language and literature might be especially attractive.

Pianist Ran Dank makes Chicago debut with "Politically inspired"

On Friday, April 7, at 7:30 PM, the University of Chicago Presents hosts the accomplished Israeli pianist Ran Dank at Mandel Hall.


Here Mr. Dank, praised for his technically dazzling and intellectually probing artistry, presents Politically inspired, a program that brings together the seemingly disparate worlds of Frederic Chopin's sweepingly romantic music and Frederic Rzewski's monumental work The People United Will Never Be Defeated!. This concert marks his Chicago debut.

Write-Ins are intensive workshops designed to help graduate students break through roadblocks and make timely progress on writing. In this session, participants will commit to writing at least four hours a day for either two or three days. Coffee and snacks provided. PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND ALL DAYS, NO EXCEPTIONS.
