This course examines the ever-evolving political developments in the former Soviet Union from the collapse of communism to the present day. Among the dominant themes running throughout the course will be the extent to which developments since the Soviet collapse reflect basic continuities in politics as well as radical change. The focus will be on the non-EU countries of the former Soviet Union. It addresses the key questions that have dominated politics in this region over the last two decades:

Fulbright-Hays Fellowships Available for Russian and Persian language study

Fulbright-Hays Fellowship funding is still available for fall and academic year intensive language immersion programs. Each scholarship is in the amount of $7,000. Those who wish to be considered for Fulbright-Hays funding should submit applications no later than Wednesday, March 15th for the following programs:

ESL Internship at Bard Smolny

The Institute for International Liberal Education at Bard College and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences (Smolny College) seek a former Bard-Smolny participant to join us for the summer and academic school year for a unique opportunity. This  position consists of two distinct parts: in August, the ESL intern will come to Bard’s campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, to assist with the four-week Bard English Summer Language Intensive (BESLI) program for Smolny students, then in September, she/he will fly to St. Petersburg to provide ESL assistance for the Smolny academic year.

Career-focused summer internships in Russia for undergraduate students

Fellowships for the study of East European and Central Asian languages at Indiana University, Summer 2017



Title VIII Fellowships are available to support US citizen graduate students, college/university faculty, and professionals from a range of fields (government, business, journalism, NGOs, and other) in the study of various East European and Central Asian languages at the Indiana University Summer Language Workshop to be held June 5-July 28, 2017.


International Master in European Project Planning and Management

International Master in European Project Planning and Management, 6th Edition

The International Master has a total duration of 5 months (800 hours).

The classroom based part is held in Florence (Italy).

The teaching staff is composed by international experts with 15 to 25 years of experience in European project planning, management and assessment.


The Master organizes for all participants a three month internship abroad, to work as Assistant European Project Manager in organizations with long experience in European project management.


Intensive Ottoman Summer Program at Koç/ANAMED

Koç University’s Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) in Beyoğlu, Istanbul is offering an intensive graduate summer program for Ottoman Turkish in 2017


Date: 3 July–11 August 2017


This program is designed to develop students’ reading and comprehension skills and expertise on a variety of Ottoman sources, including archival documents, manuscripts, and epigraphic material. The course accommodates the needs of participants with different levels of Ottoman literacy and is open to students enrolled in MA and PhD Programs.
