Catastrophe: Real and Imagined
Graduate students from all departments are invited to submit written and artistic work to Lights, the official journal of the University of Chicago’s Middle Eastern Studies Student Association. As we enter this academic year in the midst of world-changing public health and environmental crises,
MESSA invites you to submit papers which concentrate on catastrophe – whether material, historical, political, mythological, or literary – as related to the study of the Middle East in any period. Students of the ancient Near East to the modern Middle East and anything in between are welcome.
Please submit papers of 20 pages or fewer in an editable format to messalightsjournal@gmail.com. Photographic entries may be submitted as PDFs.
