Save the date for the upcoming Midwest Slavic Conference organized by the Midwest Slavic Association and the Center for Slavic and East European Studies. The conference will begin with a keynote address delivered by Dr. Tara Zahra (University of Chicago) on her most recent book The Great Departure: Mass Migration from Eastern Europe and the Making of the Free World. Building on the title of the keynote, the conference will host a plenary panel on Saturday, March 24 at 8:30am titled "Borders, Barriers, and Belonging: A Spotlight on Global Migration" that is co-sponsored by the Center for African Studies, the Center for Latin American Studies, the East Asian Studies Center and the Middle East Studies Center. The Slovene Research Initiative will host a lunchtime lecture, featuring Dr. Michael Biggins who will discuss Slavic literary translation. Panels will run on Saturday and Sunday.
