Spring Eurasia Program Internship, Open Society

Spring Internship, Eurasia Program
Open Society
New York, New York

Deadline: December 10, 2018

The Open Society Foundations’ Eurasia Program seeks two or three spring interns to support our grant making initiatives. With supervision by an assigned mentor, interns will learn about the various tools available for implementing issue-based grant making strategies. Over the course of the internship, they will gain an in-depth understanding of the region’s NGO sector and civil society community – ranging from human rights defenders to independent media to anti-discrimination and campaigning to online platforms for debate and discussion.

The Eurasia Program works to deepen civil society, uphold human rights, and maintain space for independent debate and discussion in Turkey, Eastern Europe (Moldova, Ukraine), the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). The program is advanced through grant making, advocacy and research, regional initiatives, and close engagement with local Open Society foundations. We believe that a vital civil society is fundamental to the promotion of democratic governance and government accountability.
