UChicago Dept of Music: Imani Winds plays Aaron Helgeson and Rimsky-Korsakov

Imani Winds: At the Cutting Edge
Sunday, February 11  |  3 PM
Rockefeller Chapel

The acclaimed Imani Winds presents the world premiere of Aaron Helgeson's Le vol ce l'est ("The flight is on"), the first piece in his Calls of Close and Away cycle for wind quintet. Part of the UChicago New Music Ensemble's 2018 commissioning project for the Imani Winds, Helgeson's new piece incorporates 18th-century French hunting calls and 20th-century American bugle calls in an engaging fabric. Also on the program is a woodwind quintet arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, plus a selection of other Imani signature works. Free admission.
