How did they ever make a staged reading of Lolita?

All are welcomed to challenge this possibility when...

Malynne Sternstein & Daniela de Diego Arozamena present a staged reading of Vladimir Nabokov's

4:30PM to 6:00PM on Wednesday, February 7TH at THE SANCTUARY CAFÉ

At a time when sexual assault and pedophilia have so jarringly entered the realm of politics and the public sphere, we would like to look at the novel Lolita as an urgent, relevant, and necessary text that engages with the discourse of justification, negation, denial, and ‘morality.’ As the subject of sexual exploitation becomes more and more present in the public domain, we believe the novel read out loud will allow the opportunity for a dissonant yet positive situation to reverberate with the public discourse(s) on sexual abuse and pedophilia, but does not operate within the same discursive space.  We wish, above all, to allow Nabokov’s work the opportunity to be voiced, literally, in order to offer an alternative imagining of the questions of cruelty, self-deceit, and the consuming power of cunning and quaint language.
