1 Marriage and Marital Rights in Historical Samurzakano Kharchilava, Nino The main purpose of the dissertation is to study marital customs of Samurzakano on the basis of Georgian and foreign sources, archive materials corresponding the literature data and, first of all, ethnographic material compiled by us in the Gali region in 1999-2003 in which the local peculiar features characteristic to this region have been revealed. Our aim was to trace the similarities and differences between the matrimonial traditions of this region and other parts of Georgia. The obtained material was first place compared to the matrimonial traditions of other parts of Georgia, then to Abkhazia and finally to the traditions of the North Caucasus population. Download File
