CEERES K-12 Projects
TEACHER WORKSHOPS: As part of our outreach mission, CEERES is committed to providing K-12 educators with opportunities for professional development. Throughout the year, we therefore organize and collaborate on several teacher workshops that address topics related to CEERES world regions. Below is a list of past CEERES-sponsored teacher workshops.
Fun and Practical Activities for Teaching Polish and Russian. This workshop was held on October 3rd, 2009 in conjunction with Chicago Public Schools' Office of Language and Cultural Education and the University of Chicago Center for International Studies.
2009 Summer Teacher Institute - Understanding the Global Economy: Bringing the World Market into Your Classroom. Held on June 22nd-24th, 2009 in conjunction with the University of Chicago Center for International Studies, Center for Middle Eastern Studies, South Asia and Language Area Center, Center for East Asian Studies, and Center for Latin American Studies. Muslim Women, the Veil and Human Rights. Held on April 18th, 2009 in conjunction with the University of Chicago Center for International Studies, Center for Middle Eastern Studies, and South Asia and Language Area Center.
Islam at the Edges: Souteast Asia and Southeast Europe. Held on March 23rd, 2009 at North Illinois University in conjunction with NIU's Center for Souteast Asian Studies.

Contextualizing the Turkic World. A continuing education seminar held on June 16th -18th at the downtown Gleacher Center, in conjuction with the Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
Institute on Europe: European Identities and the EU. Held on August 14th-17th at Joliet Junior College.
2006 Summer Teacher Institute - Epidemics Then & Now: Infectious Disease Around the World. Held at the Gleacher Center downtown on June 26th - 29th in conjunction with the Center for International Studies, the Graham School of General Studies, the Center for East Asian Studies, the Center for Latin American Studies, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, the South Asia Language and Area Center, the Human Rights Program and the University of Illinois Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
Summer Institute on Eastern Europe. Held on May 22nd -26th at Illinois Valley Community College in conjunction with IVCC.
