The UW-Madison Arabic, Persian, and Turkish Language Immersion Institute (APTLII) is a residential summer language immersion program for undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals. Courses are offered for academic credit at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels (depending on sufficient enrollment).

Beloit College Summer Russian Language Program

Beloit College summer program (CLS) is accepting applications to study Russian. CLS is an immersive summer program that enables students to complete a semester or entire year of Russian over the summer. CLS offers a unique opportunity to either start Russian or greatly expand one’s fluency, while working with top faculty.

Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA), University of Minnesota

The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) is one of the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI National Language Resource Centers, whose role is to improve the nation's capacity to teach and learn foreign languages effectively.

Their Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs) Project helps to track information on locations in North America where students can study spefic less commonly taught languages as well as to provide information about study abroad opportunities.

 

Central Eurasian Studies Summer Institute (CESSI), UW-Madison

The Central Eurasian Studies Summer Institute (CESSI) offers intensive Central Eurasian language courses alongside a cultural enhancement program which introduces students to the rich world of Central Eurasian history and culture. The Center for Russia, East Europe and Central Asia (CREECA) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison hosts CESSI in the summers.

The Yiddish Book Center’s Steiner Summer Yiddish Program offers college students a spirited exploration of Yiddish language and culture. In seven weeks of concentrated study, Steiner students not only gain Yiddish language literacy and substantive knowledge of Central and Eastern European Jewish history and culture – they also participate in the lively world of Yiddish culture at the Yiddish Book Center and beyond.

Summer Language Workshop, Indiana University-Bloomington

Offering intensive summer language training at the Bloomington campus of Indiana University since 1950, the IU Summer Language Workshop provides over 200 participants annually the opportunity to complete a full year of college language instruction in eight and nine-week summer sessions.

 

The Workshop has enabled thousands of students and professionals to intensively study languages critical to academic research, economic development, human rights, diplomacy, national security, cultural exchange, scientific advancement, and other global issues.

 

Summer Russian Program, UW-Madison

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Language Institute and the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature offers intensive language summer courses in the summer for Russian. Usually, Intensive First, Second, and Third year Russian are offered (Slavic 101 and 102; 117 and 118; 279).

 

The Critical Languages Institute (CLI), Arizona State University

Founded in 1991 as a boutique program for ASU graduate students studying Macedonian, the CLI has evolved into one of the largest summer training facilities in the U.S. for less commonly taught languages, offering courses in 9 languages at up to 5 levels to over 150 students each summer.
