Czarnecki and Maydanchik Win Fulbright-Hays DDRA

Recently the U.S. Department of Education announced the winners of this year's Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) grants, which funds international research in non-Western modern languages and area studies. CEERES is thrilled to report that two of our graduate students have won the prestigious grant in this year's competition—Natalja Czarnecki (Anthropology) and Michelle Maydanchik (Art History), both of whom are past recipients of FLAS fellowships. As a whole, the University of Chicago was the top recipient of DDRA grants this year, with 10 awards going to UChicago graduate students.
