This is “East from Chicago,” a multimedia blog covering events and issue related to Russian and Eastern European Studies at the University of Chicago.  The content of this blog is supervised by our editorial board in order to ensure sustained intellectual and stylistic quality. Our editorial board is made up of faculty from the Humanities and Social Sciences Divisions and CEERES administrators.

The following cry of distress and protest was published on February 5, 2019 in the official journal of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. 

On April 27th, participants in University of Chicago’s conference Media and Power in Contemporary Russia and Beyond gathered to discuss the media and messages currently circulating in the post-Soviet space.

On October 17, 2017 the CEERES and Seminary Co-op Bookstore and opened this year’s CEERES of Voices with a discussion of The Prague Sonata with novelist Bradford Morrow and Esther Peters.

The centenary of the Russian revolution is being marked on the campus of the University of Chicago by two exhibitions.
