In light of this and many other universities transition to online/distance learning for the spring 2020 term in response to the international COVID-19 pandemic, CEERES has compiled this brief list of online resources for teaching Turkish. Deep Approach to Turkish Teaching and Learning

The Deep Approach to Turkish Teaching and Learning (DATTL) is a project to create educational material to teach Turkish to English-speaking students world-wide. It aims at teaching Turkish language with an important cultural component. The audio and video materials used relate with the Turkic cultures and environments to help instructors teaching Modern Turkish with the context of authentic settings. These materials aim at triggering discussion and reflection to bring awareness and a deep understanding of culture, and of intercultural and transdisciplinary issues, with a desire to change or move self and society in a positive and uplifting way.


Tuned-in Turkish 

Tuned-in Turkish is a musical companion to Turkish language learning. We currently have two units of lesson and exercises, bonus material, and other translations and listening available for your enjoyment.


Turkish Tea Time Podcast

Join us at Turkish Tea Time as we chat about the Turkish language, its grammar, and how it's spoken in everyday life. We're Turkish learners, Turkish teachers, and Turkish people ourselves - so we understand what it takes to get a grip on this amazing language. There's something here for every Turkish learner: the difficulty level of each lesson rotates between four levels, from absolute beginner to advanced. We're currently not publishing new content, but look through our library of 136 lessons to find something on virtually any grammar point you need help with.


CultureTalk: Turkish

CultureTalkfeatures video clips of interviews and discussions with people from Turkey on common topics in daily life. The videos are in Turkish with translations and/or transcripts in both English and Turkish. 


Turkish Tutor

Turkish Tutor consists of interactive lessons with one or more scenes in which you watch short video clips from a popular Turkish TV show Bizimkiler and listen to audio clips of dialogue and vocabulary. You can test your listening comprehension with exercises in English and Turkish that are linked to each scene, as well as other types of exercises that cover the lesson as a whole. We recommend that you check the Instructions page, as it provides you with a strategy for getting the most out of the lessons.

Overview of Digital Sources For the study of the Ottoman Empire and Republic of Turkey by Nicole A.N.M. van Os

This overview aims at assisting in locating relevant sources for those doing research on, in particular, the (late) Ottoman Empire and the early Republic of Turkey. Some sources of a later date are also added. It is meant to be used not only by experienced researchers, but also, and even more so, by young and new researchers or even prospective researchers and students. As such it serves to support and supplement the courses elsewhere on this site.
