REECA Invites Paper Proposals for Winter 2018

Interdisciplinary Approaches to Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia (REECA) is excited to invite proposals for workshop papers and presentations for the Winter 2018 quarter!


REECA is a new forum for graduate students, faculty, and post-doctoral fellows, and we aim to provide an intellectual space for research from a range of academic disciplines interested in the insightful and innovative study of these regions. We aim to create a multidisciplinary dialogue between scholars interested in the past, present, and future of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. We are especially interested in submissions from the following fields: comparative literature, public policy, philosophy, divinity, law, cinema and film studies, political science, social thought, sociology, anthropology, history (especially intellectual, literary, and cultural history), environmental studies, gender and sexuality studies, race studies, postcolonial theory, theories of empire, and other related areas.


Workshop papers should be in the form of articles intended for journal submission, dissertation proposals, or drafts of dissertation or book chapters.

All submissions should include:
·      A title
·      An abstract of 200-300 words
·      An indication of the nature of your paper (article, dissertation chapter, etc.)
·      Any dates you are not available to present


REECA meets on alternating Fridays from 12:00pm to 1:20pm in Foster Hall 103.
