Turkish Circle — Fall 2020

Herkese merhabalar,

Welcome to the autumn quarter Turkish Circle at the University of Chicago! This quarter we will be meeting every Monday at 5PM-6PM over Zoom. Turkish Circle is an opportunity for Turkish language speakers and learners of any level to experience an oral presentation on an academic or general interest topic in Turkish before a more informal conversation with the speaker. For those learning Turkish it is an excellent opportunity to gain experience with comprehending native speakers as well as practice your own conversation skills. We hope to see you all there! And if you are a native speaker of Turkish interested in presenting at the circle in the coming quarters please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

For our first meeting this Monday, October 5th at 5PM we are pleased to welcome Dr. Kağan Arık, the University of Chicago's Ayaslı Associate Instructional Professor in Modern Turkish and Turkic languages, who will present a talk on the History of Turkish Language. See the below for the Zoom link.

Warm regards,

Theo Knights
