A lecture, workshop, performance, and exhibit by Chicago folk dance ensemble Balkanski Igri, with assistance from members of the Kitka Macedonian Folklore Group of Crown Point, IN and Kitka BG Folklore Group of Gurnee, IL.

 

Folk music from the Balkans is best known for its uneven beats, such as 5/16, 9/16, 11/16. Join us to learn how the locals count and how to dance to it!
