The Berkeley Language Center (BLC) at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Academic Coordinator I in the area of applied linguistics / second language acquisition and teaching to serve as the Associate Director (AD). The BLC provides intellectual, pedagogical, and technological support for the teaching of languages on the Berkeley campus, in the Bay Area, and beyond. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

FLAS Fellowships are awards for graduate students concentrating on modern foreign language and international or area studies. In the 2022-2023 competition cycle, UChicago will accept applications for languages in three world areas: East Asia, East Europe, and Middle East. FLAS Fellowships provide both summer and academic year awards. The deadline to apply is February 16, 2022. 

The Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the position of 3rd-year Russian Instructor for the Pitt Project GO study abroad program in Narva, Estonia. Appointed for the Summer Term 2022, the Instructor will be chiefly responsible for teaching the ROTC 3rd-year Russian course, while working with the 2nd and 4th-year Russian instructors to integrate the language curriculum across levels. Other responsibilities will include: collaboration with Narva College on the design and implementation of cultural programs; coordinating classes with the content to be covered during lectures and excursions; preparing 3rd-year Russian students for all program-related excursions and lectures; conversing with students in the target language at all times; and assistance with the administration of required language proficiency exams.

Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2022

Armenian Language Circle

Please join us for Armenian Circle this Monday at 5:30pm in Room 218, Pick Hall (this will be our regular meeting time for the quarter). This week, we’ll be discussing Armenian folk music (its contemporary renditions/reimaginings), as well as learning a traditional Western Armenian circle dance. It should be an exciting meeting, so be sure not to miss it!

Turkish Tutor consists of interactive lessons in which users watch short video clips from the popular Turkish TV show Bizimkiler and listen to audio clips of dialogue and vocabulary. The lessons focus on listening comprehension and offer users the ability to listen to slowed down audio of the scene.

A series of self-taught courses and exercises designed for individuals trying to teach themselves Turkish in Turkey. However, the advanced grammar section provides grammatical sketches and examples for a large number of more complex grammatical structures as well as an exam for self-assessment.
