The Harriman Institute seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Russian Politics for a two-year appointment, starting July 1, 2022. The incumbent's responsibilities will be to conduct independent research in Russian Politics and to develop and coordinate policy seminars (AY 2022-2023 and AY 2023-2024) with Professors Timothy Frye, Joshua Tucker (NYU), Elise Giuliano, and Alexander Cooley. Postdoctoral research scholars are expected to concentrate on their own research and writing, which should be focused on some aspect of contemporary Ukrainian life, politics, and/or international affairs; to teach a course of their own design in the spring semester of each of the two years; to give a public seminar/lecture on their research; and to be active participants in the Institute’s scholarly community and events. The Department of German and Russian at Carleton College invites applications for a non-tenure-track continuing lectureship in Russian commencing September 1, 2022. This is a full-time appointment with an initial two-year term and the possibility of renewal for an additional two-year term as a lecturer, typically followed by six-year renewable appointments and possible promotion to senior lecturer, contingent on successful reviews.

The Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at Indiana University, Bloomington invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin in the fall of 2022, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. We seek an individual with expertise in South Slavic literature and culture who is committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will teach two courses per semester. 

The Central Eurasian Studies Summer Institute (CESSI) is an intensive, eight-week language program held each summer in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to language classes, CESSI students have the opportunity to attend lectures on Central Eurasia; participate in cultural events; engage with local Central Eurasian communities; and network with other scholars of Central Eurasia.  Students of all disciplines and academic programs are welcome!  Priority applications due February 1st. Offered languages: Kazakh, Tajik, Uyghur, and Uzbek.

Columbia University invites applications for István Deák Visiting Professorship(s) in East Central European Studies for one or two semesters (fall and/or spring) in the academic year 2022-2023.
