The Department of Germanic, Russian and East European Languages and Literatures at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (New Brunswick) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track one-year position as a Visiting Lecturer in the Russian and East European Program, effective September 1, 2022. We seek a vibrant instructor to teach first-year Russian language, as well as undergraduate courses in Russian and East European literature and cultures. Application review starts May 16, 2022.

Participants will learn more about the daily routine of an ordinary Ukrainian, the living conditions in Ukrainian towns under attack and how each person has urgently acquired new skills to make their contribution to Ukraine’s victory. The participants will also learn about the ways to help Ukrainian citizens under attack.

ASU’s Melikian Center, in collaboration with ASU’s Narrative Storytelling Initiative, invites up to 10 participants to ASU’s Tempe campus for a three-day, in-person workshop on issues in public scholarship. Applications are invited from early-career scholars and practitioners (including advanced PhD and master’s students and recent graduates) with an interest in taking knowledge public. The workshop will explore different genres of writing, speaking, and publishing to effectively translate in-depth regional knowledge of Russia, Eurasia and East Europe to engage public and policy audiences. Initial deadline for applications is May 30, 2022.

The Russian Practicum at Columbia University is offering three intensive courses in Russian language (beginning, intermediate and advanced) during two sessions this summer (June 6 - July 1 and July 5 - July 29, 2022). Spaces are still available in all three levels. Applications accepted on a rolling basis. 

The AHRC-funded Slavic and East European Maternal Studies Research Network (SEEMS) will host a one-day symposium on July 9th, 2022 in Exeter, UK at the historic Devon and Exeter Institution, Cathedral Green, Exeter. The symposium will explore maternal creativity and depictions of motherhood in Slavic and Eastern European cultures. The organizers (Professor Muireann Maguire, University of Exeter and Dr Eglė Kačkutė, University of Vilnius) welcome papers from a range of disciplines, including literature, art, cinema, and comparative cultural studies. Proposals due April 29, 2022. 

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Russian and East European Studies Librarian to support the research, teaching, and learning mission of the University of Pennsylvania as team member in the Center for Global Collections developing and managing library resources from and about Russia, the former Soviet Union, East Europe and its diasporas and providing library services for the interdisciplinary field of Russian and East European Studies at Penn. Applications accepted on a rolling basis. 

The Russian Department at Lawrence University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Russian Area Studies beginning fall semester 2022. Ph.D. required in Slavic Languages and Literatures with experience teaching Russian at the college level, or a Ph.D. in a related field with a certificate in Russian-language teaching. Applications due April 25/until filled.
