Fall 2022 Semester Abroad: Russian Studies in Almaty & Chisinau -- American Councils for International Education

American Councils Fall 2022 Russian Studies

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the Russian invasion in Ukraine, American Councils has decided to cancel its Fall 2022 semester in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The health and safety of our participants is American Councils’ top priority, and at this time, the security situation in Russia leaves us no alternative but to cancel program activity at these sites.

We are still accepting applications for our Fall 2022 Russian Language and Area Studies Program in Almaty, Kazakhstan and Chisinau, Moldova.

Applications can be found here and are open until 30 April 2022. Financial aid is available for both sites.

Please note that while Chisinau, Moldova is not an option to choose from on our website as of now, Chisinau applicants can choose either “Moscow” or “Saint Petersburg” as their desired host city and will automatically become candidates for RLASP Chisinau.

The on-site programs in Kazakhstan and Moldova provide the same level of instruction, host family housing, academic credit, cultural programming, and logistical support as the programs we had planned in Russia. In both locations, American Councils has been running intensive Russian language programs with native Russian-speaking faculty for many years. With extensive support from additional American Councils staff, a full-time Resident Director provide ongoing assistance to participants at both locations.

If applicants are interested in online programmingapplications can be submitted here.

We hope you may share the opportunity to continue intensive Russian language study with American Councils in either Almaty or Chisinau. More information can be found at the following link: https://www.studyabroad.americancouncils.org/rlasp
