Ekaterina Schulmann is a Russian-born political scientist and commentator.

With her research focused on functioning of legislative systems, Schulmann obtained a PhD in Political Science (2013) and was a professor at the prestigious Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences and the director of RANEPA’s Center for Legislative Studies. Currently she is an associate member of the Russia and Eurasia program at Chatham House, a visiting fellow at the Carnegie Berlin Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, and a professor at KAZGUU in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Over the years, Schulmann has been a political commentator with a widest audience in Russia and among Russian-speakers around the world. She has been published in Vedomosti, Grani.ru, Republic, and the Carnegie Moscow Center. Her political show “Status” was the highest-rated on “Echo of Moscow” radio station in 2016-22, until the station was closed at the beginning of the war. Her YouTube channel has over 1.1 million subscribers.
