The Hungary Foundation, a Washington D.C. based non-profit organization, in partnership with the Mathias Corvinus Collegium in Budapest, Hungary is presently accepting applications for the Budapest Fellowship Program, for the 2021/2022 academic year (September 2021-July 2022). The Budapest Fellowship Program is a full-time, fully-funded transatlantic fellowship opportunity in Budapest, Hungary, for young American scholars and professionals, and it includes a Junior Fellowship aimed for senior graduate students and a Senior Fellowship, for postdoctoral researchers and early career professionals. The program aims to cultivate the next generation of American policy professionals and equip them with a thorough understanding of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Hungary. The fellows will have an opportunity to conduct independent research on the topic fellows choose while gaining practical experience working at a Hungarian host institution that matches their professional interests.

The NYU Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia Post-Doctoral Fellowship program is designed to provide a transition to career independence for recent PhD recipients and to provide time to conduct post-PhD research. Fellows will conduct independent research and writing and regularly attend Jordan Center events (in-person and virtual). Fellows may be given the opportunity to organize a symposium and to teach one course in the department of Russian and Slavic Studies (pending interest from both the candidate and the department). This position will not be overseen by a faculty supervisor.

The Fulbright provides grants for study, research, or English teaching in over 140 countries around the world.  Intended for graduate students of all levels and disciplines, this information and strategy session will provide an overview of the Fulbright program and useful tips for developing a successful application. Students will also learn about the resources offered by UChicagoGRAD Fellowships.

In keeping with the Fisher Center’s mission of supporting research and dialogue about gender and justice through curricular, programmatic, and scholarly projects, the Fisher Center Steering Committee announces a call for applications for our 2021 - 2022 Pre-doctoral Fellowship. We seek dissertation scholars and advanced candidates for the MFA whose work critically engages the terms of our research theme for the year, “Beyond.” We are especially interested in candidates who would contribute to the diversity of the HWS campus.

Faculty at community colleges and minority-serving institutions throughout the U.S. are invited to apply for a course development stipend. Awards will be from $1,000-$3,000. All full-time, regular part-time, and adjunct faculty are encouraged to apply. Applicants can propose to redesign an existing course or to develop a new course. The redesigned/new course should include at least 25% content on Russia, Eastern Europe, and/or Eurasia. Funds will be made available to awardees in the form of a subaward to their home institution that can be used to cover research related travel, off-duty/ additional pay and benefits, curriculum and research purchases, or consultation with a faculty member from a participating NRC. Awardees can also access the library of one participating NRC during the funding period.

The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship Program provides opportunities for doctoral candidates to engage in full-time dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. The program is designed to deepen research knowledge and increase the study of modern foreign languages, cultural engagement, and area studies not generally included in U.S. curricula.

Thanks to the generosity of donors and members, the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies is sponsoring up to 16 grants annually, at a maximum of $6,000 each, for the purposes of conducting doctoral dissertation research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia in any aspect of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies in any discipline.  These awards may be held concurrently with other partial funding sources, but are intended to support students whose projects have not yet been fully supported.
