The Aleksanteri Institute is pleased to invite applications for its Visiting Fellowships for the academic year 2020-2021 from scholars holding a PhD degree and pursuing research that relates to the Institute's research profile. The Fellowship carries a monthly grant of 3400 euros to cover all of the expenses related to the research visit, which can range from one to three months. The Visiting Fellowship scheme is intended for scholars who reside outside Finland. The deadline for applications is 12 February 2020.

American Councils is pleased to announce the 2020 Summer Russian Language Teacher Program. The program offers current and prospective American teachers of Russian language and culture the opportunity to reach new levels of competency in Russian. The four-week program is designed to accommodate the particular professional interests and needs of teachers of Russian, incorporating grammar and conversation courses with lectures and workshops in culture and civilization, and foreign language pedagogy. The Slavic Library Institute 2020 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is offering a limited number of fellowships (covering tuition, lodging, and up to $500 in travel costs) to participate in the Institute, which will take place at the top-ranked UIUC iSchool and Library in Urbana from May 19th to June 5th, 2020.

In the 2021-22 competition cycle, UChicago will accept applications for languages in three world areas: East Asia, East Europe, and Middle East. The FLAS Fellowships provide Academic Year Fellowships for language and area studies coursework on campus during the 2021-22 academic year, and Summer FLAS Fellowships for language study on campus or elsewhere (domestically or abroad) during summer 2021 (CMES is not accepting summer applications). All applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents and cannot be beyond the fifth year of graduate study while holding the award.

As of 2019, ASEEES is offering a Cohen-Tucker Dissertation Completion Fellowship, with a maximum stipend of $25,000, for a doctoral student at US and Canadian universities, who is citizen or permanent resident of the US, to complete their dissertation. The Program is open to students in any discipline whose dissertation topics are within 19th - early 21st century Russian historical studies.

This program provides MA, PhD, and professional school students and recent graduates (i.e. those who have graduated no more than two years prior to the competition deadline) with grants that make it possible for them to accept unpaid or underpaid internships in areas directly related to Russian studies.

A combined Postdoctoral/Lecturer (50/50) position emphasizing new directions in language learning and language instruction research in the Department of Literature at the University of California, San Diego is available beginning July 2020. Candidates must have the ability to contribute to important departmental foci, such as translation, the study of language through literature, and L2 pedagogy in the fields such as Ancient Greek, Italian, Latin, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
