Fellowships and Funding

Fellows will be tasked with writing a report of significant length on an agreed upon subject relevant to the Foundation’s mission and to participate fully in the publication and promotion process, including public presentations and briefings to Congressmen, administrative officials, diplomatic delegations, and academic conferences as appropriate. Fellows will also assist in organizing the Foundation’s yearly academic conference on Central and Eastern Europe. 

Applications are due on February 15, 2020 for full consideration.

Apply for the PATHS / Area Studies Centers Public Lectureship Prize to share your global expertise with local populations.  Recipients will receive a $250 stipend and logistical support for planning a talk at a Chicago-area school, public library, or other community venue.  Recipients will also engage in required GRADTalk public speaking training as they prepare for their presentations.

Applications for this round must be received by Friday, December 6, 2019.

The University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies will award up to two Language Teaching and Learning Research (LTLR) Grants for scholars to conduct research projects on-site at the Summer Language Institute in June – July 2020. Funded projects must focus on the teaching and learning of one or more of the following priority languages: Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Polish, Russian, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Priority consideration will be given to applications submitted by February 3, 2020.

The Armenian Studies Program at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor is pleased to announce the 2020-21 competition for the Manoogian Fellowships for postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars to foster teaching and research in Armenian Studies. All applications must be received by 11:59 pm EST on January 15, 2020.

Provided by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York, the American Councils Academic Fellowships in Russia program (AFR) will support U.S. graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars as they conduct research for three to nine consecutive months on topics within the social sciences disciplines in Russia.

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan) invites applications for the two-year position of “Post-Doctoral Fellow in Eurasian Studies,” beginning in August 2019 to assist with our new Ph.D. program in Eurasian Studies, which is a collaborative effort between the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nazarbayev University and Humboldt University (Berlin) made possible by a generous four-year grant from the VolkswagenStiftung.
